Greater London Authority | Peer Outreach Team | Alcohol Awareness Project

The Greater London Authority Peer Outreach Team is a group of 40 young people aged 15-to-25-years-old who deliver work on behalf of the GLA for the benefit of young Londoners. The team was established in the winter of 2006 and the Alcohol Awareness Project commenced in 2009. They are currently working with Alcohol Concern's Youth Policy team to produce a series of vox pop interviews focused on young people and alcohol, particularly with regard to advertising, relationships, domestic violence and peer pressure. A new Whitehall strategy, the Total Place Pilot, looks at how a ‘whole area’ approach to public services can lead to better services at less cost. The Birmingham | Total Place Pilot – Repeat Attendees at A&E and Acute Units project is a focused initiative, devised in direct response to this strategy. The project is led by The Birmingham Drug and Alcohol Action Team (BDAAT), and is focused on providing a multi-agency response - including joint assessment and care-planning - to the health and social needs of adult dependant drinkers who are frequently admitted to hospital following diagnosis with an alcohol-specific condition.

South of Tyne and Wear | North East Regional Alcohol Forum

NERAF (North East Regional Alcohol Forum) is a charitable organisation that was designed to “enable positive life change and full recovery” and reduce the harm caused by alcohol misuse to individuals, families and communities by providing a unique tailored service to meet individual needs with an ‘end-to-end’ approach. They provide one to one peer mentoring as well as open access support groups and services are available at evenings and weekends. NERAF works with anyone who wants help reducing their alcohol consumption and the only provision is that the service user is over 18 years old. The service currently operates 8am-8pm, Monday - Saturday but the aim is for it to be open every day except Christmas Day.

Pembrokeshire | Dignity. Use it. Don't Lose it.

Pembrokeshire | Dignity. Use it. Don't Lose it. was the first stage in a campaign aimed at keeping young people safe whilst on a night out. Delivered via Bloowire Bluetooth, this scheme provided young people in Pembrokeshire with advice and information on a range of alcohol-related issues. The objective was to encourage revelers to stop and think about the effect alcohol could have on individual health and wellbeing and the wider community. It is envisaged that this campaign will also be adapted for use in school and at Fresher’s weeks. It is the first time a campaign using this type of messaging technology has been run in Wales.
