Brent Screening and Brief Intervention Trials by GPs
Description:
A trained Alcohol Nurse and Alcohol Worker is employed to work in 4 GP surgeries to undertake screening and brief interventions. The Alcohol Nurse will also train all nurses and doctors in the services chosen in to offer screening and brief interventions.
The Screening tools used will be FAST (Fast Alcohol Screening Test), PAT (Paddington Alcohol Test) and SASQ (Single Alcohol Screening Question). Brief Interventions will fall into three categories:
- Patient Information Leaflets
- Simple Advice
- Lifestyle counselling
It is hoped that this project will extent to the probation service in due course as well as extent to all GPs and A&E departments in Brent.
