HubCAPP initial six month evaluation
The HubCAPP website has been live for six months, having officially launched on 28 March 2008. On 1 October the initial six month evaluation survey went online. Notification about the survey was well published but despite this we have had a small response rate = 31 people. Therefore it is difficult generalise from the responses received. The key findings are that overwhelmingly the responses to the HubCAPP evaluation were extremely positive. People felt the website was very easy to use, very useful to their work (see Chart 1).
Of those people who had submitted projects they found the process straightforward and had great support from the HubCAPP team. People have also had positive responses when contacting a project that is listed on the HubCAPP website, which is very pleasing.
People frequently visit the site with 42% visiting the site at least once a month (see Chart 2). The majority of people use the website in the delivery of alcohol work (n=22 responses), strategic development (n=18 responses) and commissioning of alcohol work (n=15). From this we can see that the website is being used as intended.

Types of projects that are included
- More criminal justice projects should be listed
- International projects "There is a lot of interest around the world in alcohol-related harms and... interest in screening and brief interventions, enforcement and alcohol strategies. I think the site may pick up use from other countries"
- That all the projects should be listed, even if HubCAPP just has a title and contact details about them.
Search strategies
- Having more options to search by for example young people, street drinkers
- Making sure the home page is the first page you arrive at. A respondent arrived at the regional search page first and didn't feel this was the most important page
- The ability to search as the number of projects increases ie hundreds or thousands.
Website statistics
Statistics have been kept on website usage since it went live. Statistics from 28 March – 5 Nov 2008 show that:
- 3088 people have visited the site (absolute unique visitors)
- There were 5,594 visits (this means that some of the unique visitors have visited more than once) with 42,025 page views
- People spend on average: 4.51 minutes on the site
- 53.5% of people on the site were new visitors and 46.5% were returning visitors (new visitors spent an average of 2.47minutes on the site, compared to 7.14minutes that returning visitors spent on the site). This statistic demonstrates that people find the site of use and return to it.
- 95% of visitors to the site came from the UK. The remaining 5% came from: New Zealand, USA, Australia, India, Canada, Ireland, France and Belgium.
