Blackpool | System Dynamics Modelling for Alcohol Treatment
Description:
As part of NHS Blackpool’s programme on alcohol intervention, the trust agreed to develop a dynamic ‘whole system’ model that will enable commissioners to test and demonstrate the most effective strategies for reducing alcohol related hospital admissions.
The model has been developed to enable the trust to understand the principle dynamics of the drinking behaviour of the population of Blackpool, assess how those people generate hospital admissions and consume resources provided by other services; and enable commissioners to simulate and test the value of different commissioning decisions.
Additionally, the trust requires a derived data specification from the dynamic model to enable the trust and its partners to evaluate and continually improve the quality of their data and the data of their partners with the objective of improving their performance management of the alcohol intervention market.
