With the current trend towards 'nudge' messaging and the increased awareness of the impact of social norms, the NUS, funded by Noctis, the trade body for the late night sector, are conducting research into social norms in student drinking as part of the Noctis social norms project, supported by the global brewer AB Inbev.

Speakeasy! A One–Day Youth Forum on Drugs and Alcohol was organised in order to reach young people affected by drugs and alcohol in Haringey. The programme included: an Alcohol Awareness Short Film session; presentations based on personal experience; workshop sessions focused on advertising, awareness and available services; and the opportunity to create vox pop interviews to be presented at the upcoming Alcohol Concern conference, Generation alcohol: is drinking damaging childhood? The event was commissioned by The Children’s Trust and funded by The Children’s Fund. COSMIC | Haringey Advisory Group on Alcohol (HAGA) were asked to organise the event in collaboration with In-volve Haringey and Alcohol Concern's Youth Policy team.

In August 2009, NHS Camden and the London Borough of Camden launched the Alcohol Photo Voice Project, an initiative addressing the issue of alcohol and underage drinking. The project involved 26 young people in a tailored workshop programme, resulting in a dedicated photographic exhibition.

The Greater London Authority Peer Outreach Team is a group of 40 young people aged 15-to-25-years-old who deliver work on behalf of the GLA for the benefit of young Londoners. The team was established in the winter of 2006 and the Alcohol Awareness Project commenced in 2009. They are currently working with Alcohol Concern's Youth Policy team to produce a series of vox pop interviews focused on young people and alcohol, particularly with regard to advertising, relationships, domestic violence and peer pressure. This work will be previewed at the upcoming Alcohol Concern conference, Generation alcohol: is drinking damaging childhood?

The Lambeth | Pharmacy–based Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) project is a five month programme, initiated to determine the success of IBA delivered by community pharmacists. Conducted by researchers at King’s College London, the project is active across 28 community pharmacies in the borough of Lambeth.

DownYourDrink (DYD) Kingston is a web based ‘low intensity treatment’ to help high risk drinkers to reduce their alcohol consumption, alongside a full assessment with an Alcohol Project Worker. Opportunistic screening is undertaken by GPs and people are offered an appointment with an Alcohol Project Worker and access to the DYD Kingston website. The website uses components effective in alcohol treatment, such as motivational interviewing techniques and cognitive behaviour therapy and relapse prevention.

Greenwich’s Substance Misuse Link Nurse Team delivers alcohol screening and brief interventions in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s A&E department.

The team also acts in an important support liaison role, linking patients into appropriate care and after care treatments if necessary.
