The Knowsley Hospital Alcohol Liaison Service (HALS) commenced in June 2009 and offers acute hospital patients with a brief intervention and education around their alcohol use. It provides, for those who need it, the opportunity to be fast-tracked into community alcohol services.

Manchester | Comprehensive care pathway development (LMFZ)

The Students' and Professionals', Experience, Concerns and Issues regarding Alcohol use by Lancaster Students (SPECIALS) project investigated student drinking in Lancashire. It explored: the transition to university; the affects of peer group influence; and, tried ot gain an understanding of how drinking behaviour impacts upon students' lives and on the provision of services to them. Research was undertaken by the Researching Equity, Access and Participation (REAP) group at the University of Lancaster.

In April 2009 the Public Health Network for Cheshire and Merseyside (ChaMPs) commissioned Centre for Public Health at the University of Chester (CPHR) to create guidance on developing or improving an integrated care pathway for alcohol services. The guide pulls together local and national evidence and outlines key methodology that should be followed.
