This research project explored the treatment needs of alcohol misusing offenders within the Criminal Justice System in Yorkshire and Humberside. It was commissioned by Government Office and reviewed data; mapped interventions available to alcohol misusing offenders, and in doing so, mapped provision available to the wider, non-offender, population. The report outlines how services are commissioned and provided within each locality. Existing treatment pathways for offenders were explored and recommendations for change made.

In 2006, professionals from Leeds PCT and Leeds Pharmaceutical Committee collaborated to launch this innovative research project. The intention was to investigate the feasibility of community pharmacists incorporating screening and brief interventions for hazardous drinkers as a routine part of their public health role.

Unit 14 21 was developed by the Leeds University Union (LUU) Marketing Department with funding from Leeds Primary Care Trust. This campaign is designed to increase awareness of the facts and effects surrounding binge drinking as a young person and to allow people to make informed decisions regarding their drinking habits, safety and welfare. The campaign set out to align itself with club and bar culture by drawing on promotional techniques employed by the industry. The key messages continue to be delivered using teaser campaigns, flyering, fly posters, promo teams and give-aways.

This youth project is aimed at tackling the anti-social behaviour caused by young people in troubled areas of Doncaster. Consultations are held at nuisance hotspots with the children and young people in an afford to understand the problems and form a solution.

A training programme to develop skills to a range of Tier 1/2 staff working face to face with high risk drinkers, and enabling these staff to deliver opportunistic identification and brief advice in their communities. The training is for primary care staff (community matrons, GPs, practice nurses) and community based staff (community wardens, youth workers).
