the Sheffield Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy 2007 to 2010 was undertaken in the context of the Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy for England and the revised strategy which was published in June 2007. The new strategy sets its long-term goal as: “to minimise the health harms, violence and antisocial behaviour associated with alcohol, while ensuring that people are able to enjoy alcohol safely and responsibly.”

Most adults in the UK drink without any lasting effects. Yet for a significant minority their intake of alcohol can lead to harm and dependency. The Hull and East Riding Alcohol Strategy 2006-2008 focused on this group and sought to reduce the harm caused by alcohol.
